January 2022
Dear Partners,
We hope that you have purposed that the New Year of 2022 is going to be a great and prosperous year for you and your family. You can make that happen when you regularly choose to yield your ways to the Lord and His Word.
As Ithiel leads an online church weekly with inmates and others,he places particular emphasis on this very practice. He says “you
can cause your way to become prosperous according to Scripture.”Joshua 1:8 is that foundation verse. “This book of the Law shall not depart out of thy mouth, but you shall meditate therein day and night. That you may observe to do according to all that is written therein; For then shall you make your way prosperous, and then you shall have good success.” The word “prosperous” means to thrive, to be successful in what you set out to do, or who you desire to become.
How can we expect good results if we don’t spend time getting into God’s Word and properly directing our steps? We must spend time in God’s Word more than just once a week and certainly more than once a month! That would be like feeding a newborn baby once a week, and then expecting the child to develop properly or grow.
God instructs us to meditate in His Word “night and day”. That word will literally “get inside of you” and direct your pathway into the “Will and Purpose of God” in your life. Thus, you will truly become the “Master” of your circumstances. And above all, you will abandon that human notion of blaming God for seemingly every disappointment in your life.
Often, we encounter both men and women who are not only locked up physically, but they are locked up spiritually as well. Be encouraged and look eagerly for ways to encourage those around you. Don’t hold back…give your all. Because we love one another as Christians, “reach out” and encourage one another. Give of yourself and let God use you for His honor and glory. Do that exactly every day of your life!
We say, “thank you” and “God bless you” for your partnership with Souls for Eternity. Because of your love, prayers, and financial support, we are able to reach imprisoned men and women who desperately need the Lord. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for caring and giving. May God bless and favor you and your family in Jesus’ wonderful and mighty Name!
IRISH & ITHIEL JONES
Ithiel’s Mother (Tinsley) was called home to be with the Lord on December 14, 2021. She was 81 years of age. She had truly lived out this Scripture, Joshua 1:8. Please keep Ithiel and his siblings in your prayers. They are missing a part of themselves.

Dear Partners,
When I was released from prison 28 years ago, I had no idea how I could help incarcerated men and women. Yet, Irish and I both Had a God-given desire to reach disconnected, and imprisoned people with the Gospel that had so radically changed our lives.
It was during the time I was concluding my sentence that I had a dream one night which turned out to be a prophetic word from heaven about our God’s plan for our lives.
I saw grandmother in this vivid dream who had become custodial parents of their grandchildren, struggling to meet all the needs of these children. Many of these grandmothers were strained almost to the breaking point in their labors. Yet, at night when the children had been put to bed, they wept themselves to sleep even. Many of these grandmothers were strained almost to the breaking point in their labors. Yet, at night when the children had been put to bed, they wept themselves to sleep staining their clothes with their tears. I was confounded by what I saw. “Lord, why are these children weeping so much?” I asked sorrowfully.
“Because they miss their mothers and fathers who are locked away in prison,” the Lord answered. I want you to tell my people that I am the God of restoration, and I desire all my sons and daughters be restored to their families. Wherever you go, bring this message to my people and those who are incarcerated.”
Because of the terrible struggles my family had while I was imprisoned, I knew that God was somehow calling Irish and I to spend our lives helping to mend broken people, because we too had once been broken. “For sin shall not {any longer} exert dominion over you, since now you are not under Law {as slaves} but under Grace—as subjects of God’s favor and mercy,” (Romans 6:14).
We have been proclaiming this life-changing message since September 1993. Our God is the Mighty One Who restores—and there is no person beyond the Savior’s power to save and redeem. Just as God gave me another chance as an ex-inmate, He longs to help imprisoned men and women with the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ, our Savior. I personally know that God’s arm is not too short to save. We ourselves are living proof of the very message we preach in county jails and state prisons throughout the state of Georgia.
Irish and I continually encounter previously incarcerated individuals—both men and women—who tell us their lives were changed for eternity when we came to preach the Good News in the facility where they were being held. It is a story often told to us, and I honestly don’t have the words to describe the great joy that fills our hearts when we hear such testimonies.
We say “thank you” and “God bless you” for your partnership with Souls for Eternity. Because of your love, prayers, and financial support, we are able to reach imprisoned men and women who desperately need the Lord. Thank you again from the bottom of our hearts for caring and giving.
May God bless and favor you and your family…and Happy Thanksgiving to you all in Jesus’ Wonderful Name!

Dear Partners,
Hebrews 4:15 (Amplified) tells us something
important about our Savior’s ministry in the Earth realm. “For we do not have a High Priest who is unable to sympathize and understand our weaknesses and temptations, but One who has been tempted knowing exactly how it feels to be human in every respect as we are, yet without committing sin.” (Amplified).
When satan recognized that Jesus was not going to yield to him, the devil left briefly, and angels came and ministered to the Savior. The word “ministered” means to supply someone’s need (Matthew 4:1-11). Jesus actually spent much time in prayer and fasting preparing Himself for the call of God upon His life and to receive the ministry of angels.
We are presently teaching incarcerated men and women that their prayers can activate the greatest military “strike force” (the heavenly Army of God). We know this is true based upon Peter’s experience in prison (Acts 12:5). “Peter was therefore kept in prison but constant prayer was offered to God for
him by the church.” These Christians clearly understood their prayers were an offering to God Almighty.
These Bible-centered prayer warriors understood that constant prayer offered to God was the key that made the power of God available to the average believer. Notice how the Passion Translation Bible expresses Matthew 7:7-8. ”Ask and the gift is yours. Seek and you’ll discover. Knock and the door will
be opened for you. For every persistent seeker will discover what he longs for. And everyone who knocks persistently will one day find an open door.”
Notice the question that Jesus poses in Matthew 7:10 about what parent would give their hungry child who asked for food. He certainly wouldn’t give them rocks! The same is true if the child asked for a piece of fish. A parent would certainly not offer their child a snake instead. We know a loving parent
would give their child what is best.
The Lord’s conclusion is truly plain and simple. “If you imperfect as you are, now how to lovingly take care of your children and give them “what’s best”, how much more is your heavenly Father to give wonderful gifts to those who ask him?” Please note a persistent pursuit of God in prayer is an illustration
of our sincere hunger for the living God!
Thank you so very much for your prayers and financial support that makes this ministry of Souls For Eternity possible in reaching incarcerated men and women. God bless you!

Dear Partners,
Luke 3:21-22 tells us something very special about our Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ.
When all the people were baptized, it came to pass that Jesus also was baptized; and while He prayed, the heaven was open. And the Holy Spirit descended in bodily form like a dove upon Him, and a voice came from heaven which said, “You are My Son; in You I am well pleased.”
Please recognize that five different things happened after John baptized Jesus “to fulfill all
righteousness.” #1, He prayed. #2, the heaven was opened. #3, the Spirit descended. #4, The
Father spoke. And #5, Jesus was led into spiritual conflict with the devil. When I first read
these Scriptures years ago, I realized that some doors will not open without prayer. That is
even true in the day in which you and I still live.
In a similar way, I also believe that some doors of ministry for Irish and myself would not have
opened without the dedicated prayers of men and women of God. Colossians 4:3 makes
this beautiful statement: “And pray for us, too, that God may open a door for our message,
so that we may proclaim the mystery of Christ, for which I am also in chains.”
In 1989, while I was still incarcerated, my wife asked our local church to pray and intercede
for me. The prayers were so powerful that God sent some men to visit me in jail and I was
gloriously saved! On a regular basis I received letters from brothers and sisters in Christ that
strengthened and blessed my life while I was still behind bars. In truth these men and
women of God prayed me “out of bondage” and into a prison ministry that has gloriously
changed the lives of potentially thousands of people. Praise the Lord!
God is still opening the hearts of incarcerated men and women and setting them free from
the bondage of sin and corruption. According to Acts 12:5, “Peter was therefore kept in prison,
but constant prayer was offered to God for him by the church. ” This is truly the kind of prayers
that God can work through to set the captives free!
Thank you so very much for your prayers and your gifts of love and support. May God’s
Highest and best continue to be yours in Christ Jesus, our Lord!

Dear Partners,
2 Timothy 1:9 brings us a priceless biblical truth. This truth states that God had has saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His purpose and grace “which was given to us in Christ Jesus before time began.”
Verse 10 tells us, this marvelous gift “has now been revealed by the appearing of our Savior, Jesus Christ, who has abolished death and brought life and immortality to light through the Gospel of our Savior.”
My Pastor, Robert Paul Lamb taught me years ago that the grace of God is His empowerment that would enable me to be “who God had called me to be and to do what He had called me to do in Jesus Christ the Savior.” (1 Corinthians 15:10). In truth, God’s amazing grace has truly made me who I am. For certain, that grace has never failed to abide in me even in the midst of the most challenging situations I would face. Praise God!
Over the years God has allowed me to recognize His amazing grace at work in my life would affect others for the Kingdom of God. The Lord’s direction was upon me when I was released from prison in 1993. Also, prison doors opened allowing me to minister throughout the State of Georgia. God allowed me to reach others who were caught in the same web of crime and rebellion as I had been snared into, and He used my story to “help set captives free.”
That same night at the Jackson State Prison as I was closing the service, many came forward weeping and repenting for their lives. The Prison’s chaplain asked me that very night if I would return regularly to serve inmates there. He also invited me to speak in his church. A ministry opened before our eyes.
From that time forward I recognized that Irish and I had a calling of God upon our lives to reach incarcerated men and women. As far as I know, we have walked through every “open door” in Georgia and elsewhere to reach incarcerated men and women since 1993. It has been the joy of our lives to go into the Georgia State Prison system…for 28 years now!

Dear Partners,
The apostle Paul carried a life-changing message with him in preaching to the Church at Colossae. “This is the wonderful message that is being spread everywhere, powerfully changing hearts throughout the earth, just like it has changed you! Every believer of this good news bears the fruit of eternal life as they experience the reality of God’s grace,” (The Passion Translation, Colossians 1:6).
Paul could see the powerful effect of the Gospel of grace in the lives of the believers in Colossae. The fruit that was evident in their lives was centered in their devotion of faith to the Lord Jesus Christ, as well as the love of God they walked in toward other believers. Without any question, the fruit of our Christian faith should be visible and obvious to all and it is centered upon the love of God.
In John 3:14-15 we are assured that we have been translated from spiritual death into spiritual life because we love the family of believers. A loveless life remains spiritually dead. “Everyone who keeps hating a fellow believer is a murderer, and you know that no murderer has eternal life residing in him.”
This is how we have discovered love’s reality: Jesus sacrificed His life for us. Because of this great love, we should be willing to lay down our lives for one another (John 16). Notice that “love” requires sacrifice in every believer’s life!
When the Lord spoke to me that He had given His life so that I could be free from sin, I said, “Lord, whatever You want me to do I will do it…just teach me Your way”. I had no idea that He would send myself and Irish back into prisons where rebellion and hatred seemed to rule. I found my own purpose and destiny would be fulfilled in reaching out to those chained and bound by sin and rebellion.
Beloved friends, I know that the redeeming message of Jesus Christ is making a great difference in the lives of incarcerated men and women. Just last week I ministered at a local facility where I noticed the men greeted me with the love of God when I arrived to preach the gospel.
Listen to the words of 1 Corinthians 13:5 in the Passion Translation: “Love is not easily irritated or quick to take offense” Lives are truly being changed and the love of God is filling hearts and minds where we have been privileged to preach His “Good News”. May God’s highest and best continue to be yours!

Dear Partners,
The apostle James, who is identified in the Scriptures as a brother of the Lord Jesus, brings us understanding of what is “true religion” and how it is acceptable to our loving Heavenly Father. He writes: “If anyone among you thinks he is religious and does not bridle his tongue but deceives his own heart, this one’s religion is useless. Pure and undefiled religion before God and the Father is this, to visit orphans and windows in their trouble and to keep oneself unspotted from the world,” (James 1:26-27).
James brings us a great clarity about our lives that our religion is useless, unless we learn to bridle our own tongue, because our tongue will deceive our hearts. The apostle understood that wrong speech and conduct would defile a believer and cause their life to be ineffective in the kingdom of God.
One of the great joys that we have experienced in prison ministry is seeing the working of the Holy Spirit in the lives of men and women behind prison bars. People have often asked me: “Ithiel, how can you really tell when the Lord is at work in the hearts of men and women behind bars?” The answer to that simple question is found in Ephesians 4:29. “Let no foul or polluting language, nor evil word, nor unwholesome or worthless talk, ever come out of your mouth, but only such speech as is good and beneficial to the spiritual progress of others, as is fitting to the need and the occasion, that it may be a blessing and give grace, (God’s favor) to those who hear it.”
When I hear imprisoned men and women asking God to forgive them for the careless words that come out of their mouths, I know that the Lord is changing their language to become more pleasing in His sight. That tells me that God’s government and His peace is increasing in their lives and they are becoming true disciples of the Savior.
Brothers and sisters, thank you so very much for helping us to make disciples as Jesus has instructed us to do. The Gospel that has changed all of our lives is making a great change in the lives of those throughout the Georgia State Prison System.

Dear Partners,
Prison is a dangerous place for inmates and guards alike. Inmates who have lived behind bars for fifteen or twenty years understand they will no doubt have to fend for themselves at times. Some are natural born fighters, and others have learned survival skills while imprisoned. Further, there is significant danger inside prison walls with rival gangs such as the “Bloods” and the “Crips.” Another gang known as the “Ghost Face Gangsters” was involved in a Georgia prison escape in 2017 that left two prison guards dead.
I have discovered inmates become interested when I preach about the difference between natural weapons and spiritual weapons. 2 Corinthians 10:4 (Amplified) provides those answers. “For the weapons of our warfare are not physical [weapons of the flesh and blood], but they are mighty before God for the overthrown and destruction of strongholds.” We continually teach both men and women inmates that human reasoning and blaming others for their own bad choices is the source of what landed many behind bars. Inmates soon learn that the Word of God and intercessory prayer are great weapons as believers in Christ.
2 Corinthians 10:5 (Amplified) is another verse that we have shared to open inmates eyes to God’s great healing and delivering truth. “[Inasmuch as we] refute arguments and theories and reasonings and every proud and lofty thing that sets itself up against the [true] knowledge of God, and we lead every thought and purpose away captive unto the obedience of Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed One).”
The classic book “War on the Saints” by Jesse Penn-Lewis first released in 1912 from the great Welsh Revival makes an amazing statement about spiritual power. “When the Church…in the old and new dispensations was at the highest point of spiritual power, the leaders recognized and dealt with the invisible forces of Satan, and when at its lowest, they were ignored or allowed to have free course among the people.”
Because Jesus never ignored Satan (Luke 4:1-14), we believe this is the Biblical pattern we must follow to combat the evil in this world—and especially in the lives of inmates—and we teach them accordingly.
Without any question, the Bible speaks to us clearly that we face battles upon the earth as Christians so we must “be strong in the Lord [be empowered through your union with Him]” draw your strength from Him [that strength which is boundless might provides],” (Ephesians 6:10, Amplified). Because of these challenges, we are told to “Put on God’s whole armor [the armor of a heavy-armed soldier which God supplies], that you may be able successfully to stand up against [all] the strategies and the deceits of the devil,” (verse 11).
We are most grateful for our Heavenly Father’s call upon our lives and for the privilege of being able to reach incarcerated men and women behind prison walls. Your love gifts and prayers are enabling us to touch lives that would perhaps not be confronted with the Gospel any other way. Thank you so very much, and God bless you today. Please keep us in your prayers as we are continually sharing His Good News throughout the Georgia State Prison system.

Dear Partner,
Hebrews 11:8 tells us that “faith motivated Abraham” to obey God’s call upon his life and leave “the familiar” in order to discover the territory he was destined to inherit from God. So, he left with only a promise and without even knowing ahead of time where he was going. Thus, Abraham took a giant step of faith!
This verse (Hebrews 11:8) reminds me of the men and women who are released from prison who have completed their sentences with no parole or probation to be served. Many of them don’t know where they are headed, and actually it is very difficult to leave the place of the “familiar” where they have spent twelve years or more.
The State of Georgia gives these men and women a bus ticket and twenty-five dollars…and that’s it! Many of them don’t even know where they are going in life. Thus, they wander back to the place which is familiar and to the troubled friends who contributed to their life of crime. It is an amazing cycle of defeat and trouble that often continues for years to come.
Yet, I have seen time and time again this cycle of incarceration broken off these men and women when they receive the promises of God activated in their lives. No one can leave the place of familiarity without knowing that your future can be much better than your past. God’s call upon Abraham changed the way he was thinking. I have discovered if we do not allow the promises of God to change the way in which, we think, we will settle in a place of familiarity which could ultimately send many of us back to repeat incarceration.
What has the power to redeem repeat offenders? God’s promises are so powerfully redemptive, I am seeing a change in the lives of these men and women who allow the promises of God to live and abide in their hearts. I am so grateful that the Lord placed a loving Pastor in my life and Christian brothers and sisters who taught me victorious Christian living.
Listen to the beautiful words of Psalm 32:8-9, “I will stay close to you instructing and guiding you along the pathway for your life. I will advise you along the way and lead you forth with my eyes as your guide. So don’t make it difficult, don’t be stubborn when I take you where you’ve not been before. Don’t make me tug you and pull you along. Just come with me!”
Please remember that your love gifts and prayers are enabling us to touch the lives of many incarcerated men and women. Thank you so very much for your help and prayers, and God bless you and keep you today! Also, please remember us as we continually reach out to inmates and those incarcerated in the Georgia State Prison system.

Dear Partner,
2 Corinthians 2:14 contains a wonderful promise from the Lord. “Now thanks be to God who always leads us in triumph in Christ…” A reasonable person might simply ask, “How can I always triumph with certain situations when I nearly always stumble and fall?”
Connecting with that “absolute truth” of being led “in triumph in Christ” is a marvelous promise of God’s strength in the midst of trouble. I call it the “Great Exchange.” We exchange our obedience to God for His greater than human strength!
Judges 6 is a great example of this principle and tells the interesting story of how the children of Israel were “delivered into the hand of Midian for seven years” because of their evil in the sight of the Lord (verse 1). The situation was so desperate that Israel became “greatly impoverished because of the Midianites” (verse 6). Then, God sent a prophet who explained how this terrible problem had come about: “But you have not obeyed My voice” (verses 8-10).
Next a man by the name of Gideon is threshing wheat to hide from the Midianites when the Angel of the Lord greets him. “The Lord is with you, you mighty man of valor” (verse 12). Gideon’s response is not positive. “Why has all this happened to us?” (verse 13). But the instruction of the angel is very clear: “Go in this might of yours, and you shall save Israel from the hand of the Midianites. Have I not sent you? (verse 14).
God’s promise to Gideon was the “Great Exchange.” If he would go in the strength he already had, God would give more strength to defeat his enemies (verse 16). As a result Gideon and Israel experienced great victory in their struggle against Midian.
In our times of instruction with the inmates we are teaching them to develop a life of obedience with God. In that unique Christ-centered obedience, God provides strength to face any situation or circumstance in this life. The result is a life that always experiences “triumph in Christ”!
Please remember that your love gifts and prayers are enabling us to touch the lives of incarcerated men and women. Thank you so very much, and God bless you today. Please keep us in your prayers as we continually share His Good News!

January 2021
Dear Partner,
Greetings in the mighty and wonderful Name of the Lord Jesus who supplies the answer to our every need.
My longtime Pastor has spent some 48 years in full-time ministry. He told me one day that he had been reading through the entire Bible each year for the majority of those years. As we talked about his disciplined life, he told me that each year he receives fresh insight into God’s Word as a result of placing a priority on reading through the complete Bible.
He explained also that he encountered days in which he didn’t feel like reading. Yet, he had made a commitment to God and thus he had embraced the discipline of spending extra time in the Scriptures. Without any doubt, he has greatly benefited from that commitment and so have others wherever he has preached in some 18 nations.
As he spoke to me about his devotional life, I knew that I too would have to embrace that very same example. Because I determined to follow that example, I began to have understanding of verses like Psalm 119:105. “Thy Word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” Notice that Proverbs 6:23 adds further understanding: “For the commandment is a lamp, and the whole teaching [of the law] is light, and reproofs of discipline are the way of life.” Notice also that God gives greater understanding of our destiny as we seek Him through simply reading the Scriptures.
In John 11:1-9, Jesus begins to teach His disciples about “walking in the light”. “Are there not twelve hours in the daylight? Anyone who walks in the daytime does not stumble, because he sees by the light of this world”. Verse 10 says “But if one walks in the night he stumbles, because the light is not in him.” Without question, in order to walk in a greater light, we must spend time in Bible reading (and prayer) to gain understanding of God’s will and purpose for our lives.
Some men and women who have been released from prison want to know how they can find the will of God for their lives. My simple answer is: “Read the Bible and apply it to your own life.” Further, I tell them “You will never know what that will is until you open the Bible and find God’s will and purpose.” Without question, Jesus is our example in pursuing God and His purpose for our lives.
As I have been taught by my longtime Pastor, I am teaching the ex-offenders and inmates that the Word of God will truly make you a master of your circumstances in life. However, we must discipline ourselves when it comes to our times of devotion and prayer.
Irish and I extend our thanks and appreciation for all of your prayers and financial support to help us reach the inmates and, also to continue the “aftercare ministry” of men and women upon their release from Georgia State Prisons.
ITHIEL & IRISH JONES
